Chili, chili con carne, Texas red - whatever you call that savory concoction of meat, grease, and fire – it’s the natural cause of endless debate. Everyone’s first thought after a taste of somebody else's chili, no matter how much it pleases the throat, is that they could make it better.

You and your team will have the opportunity to participate in this great debate, to unleash the fire of your restless and ornery chili soul. By participating in the Fusion Chili Cookoff, you are entering into wildly contested territory, the frontier of chili cooking. You will join the many before you who have embraced the timeless challenge of deciding who can make the best darn chili…ever!

The Fusion Chili Cookoff combines physical activities and brainteasing tasks while testing the team’s culinary talents. Teams are faced with a series of competitive activities where they earn “grocery money” that will be used to purchase ingredients needed to create the world’s greatest chili.

Each team is given starter materials for the cook-off, including a burner, pot, frying pan, cutting board, several small bowls or plates, wooden spoon, salt, pepper, and 1 pound of meat (or meat substitute).

The store has all of the items needed to make chili. However, they are only sold in bulk. Inevitably, each team will have some food item that other teams will want. While the shopping and cooking is going on, teams may send “negotiators” to other tables to attempt to barter for the specific ingredients they are looking for.

Teams will be asked to prepare a short chili “song and skit.” Teams are judged on taste, food presentation, and skit/song. Bartering for cooking materials, wild creativity, and hilarious judging will make this a more than memorable event.
