Charity Bike Build
The Bicycle Build Challenge is a wonderful example of play combined with purpose. The activity leads to the building of bicycles that are donated to deserving children in the local area. The expressions of excitement and joy on the children’s faces when they receive their bikes are matched by the expressions of satisfaction and joy on the faces of the bike givers.

Here’s how it works. The group of participants is divided into teams. They are presented with a series of competitive or non-competitive activities – your choice – that provide the participants an opportunity to earn parts to a bicycle as well as the tools and directions needed to build it. They are told the bikes are being built for needy and deserving children in the community. They are not told that the kids will be picking them up at the end of the program. When the activity portion of the event ends and the bicycle building begins, the teams soon realize that they have to work with each other to build all of the bikes for the children.

After the bikes are built and inspected by our certified bike technicians, the doors are opened and the children come running into the room. Each team greets their child with a brand new bike, helmet, lock, and pump. Everybody in the room becomes filled with a sense of joy. Many participants will need a tissue to wipe their tears. This event will be talked about for a long, long time. Guaranteed!
