Participant start with a single “travel stone.” Travel stones may be used multiple times by being picked up and placed in a new location. Travel stones can be shared with others.
Travel stones must be used as stepping stones during the journey to the center island and will be utilized as a barrier between the participant and the ground. If someone accidentally touches the ground, that person is required to go back to the start line.
The travel stones must be picked up and placed at each “Use location” and cannot be bunched-up, tied onto people’s feet, or slid along the ground. All mini islands contain activities which must be completed during the journey. Although the activities can be freely passed from person to person and team to team, the completed activity must end up in the island in which it was found. All travel stones must maintain human contact at all times during the activity journey. A breach of this rule will result in the permanent loss of that stone.
The initiative is completed when all of the mini-island and center island activities are completed and all of the teams have safely journeyed to the center island. The metaphors to real life situations in the office are limitless.
Debrief for a powerful learning experience
Experiential learning activities are based on the principles of
experiential education, and serve as the basis for engaging team building programs that deliver high impact team and leadership skills development. Debriefing occurs after the activity and is an important process designed to synergize, strengthen, and transfer learning from the experience to real-life, on-the-job situations. Our professional facilitators can tailor, modify and debrief each activity to meet the specific needs of your team.
